I finally learned the difference between perfume and eau de toilette. There are actually 5 types

For many women choosing perfume is a very important process, perhaps even a ritual. The selection is huge, they have to choose the scent, the brand, but also the concentration of perfume, on which its resistance depends.

If you’re not very savvy in this department, we’ll help you understand the difference between different types of perfume.

For the most part, all perfumes are made up of aromatic oils, water and alcohol. The difference lies in the proportion of the three ingredients, and the price of the eau de parfum, eau de toilette or eau de cologne.

Perfume
This is the most concentrated type of perfume. In fact, it is the only one that really deserves its name. The content of aromatic oils in perfume is 20-30%. Such a fragrance stays on the skin for more than 6 hours and on clothes or paper for more than 24 hours. Perfume belongs to the elite perfumery and costs the most expensive.

Its special feature is that it can change its aromatic nuance. For example, when it is sprayed it smells one way, and after an hour it smells a different way. It has all three notes: top, middle and base.

Perfume is not an option for every day. It is recommended to use it in the evening, during the cold season.

Eau de Parfum
The concentration of aromatic oils in eau de parfum is a little lower, 15-20%. The fragrance keeps for at least 4 hours on the skin and up to 24 hours on clothes or paper. Unlike perfume, it can be used throughout the day.

In eau de parfum, the middle notes are retained without changing with the passing of the hours. It’s perfect for everyday use.

Eau de Toilette
It is a light perfumery item. There is a little bit of top and middle notes. The concentration of aromatic oils is 7-10%. Like eau de parfum, it is suitable for daily use. More than that, even several times a day. The resistance of this water is much lower and lighter. It is the most popular perfumery item.

Eau de Cologne
Eau de cologne contains a concentration of fragrances of 3-5%. It will feel on the skin for about 2 hours and on clothes and paper for up to a day. It is the lightest perfumery item and is used more by men. By properties, it resembles toilet water, feeling only the top notes and the smell of alcohol.

Aromatic body spray (Eau Fraiche)
The fragrance concentration is about 1-3% and stays on the body for less than an hour. It is distinguished by specific citrus aromas. It can be used throughout the day, especially during fitness classes.
